At Bala Doci, fashion is more than just a way to look good - it's a way to express yourself. That's why creativity is key to providing unique and stylish pieces that allow you to showcase your individuality.
Liza Lina started Bala Doci (which means 'sweet candy' in Brazilian Portuguese) in 2009. Having grown up with a crafty mother, she was always inspired to create. Liza Lina's passion for beadmaking started when a friend gifted her a lampworking kit which consisted of a torch and glass rods. She then spent countless hours teaching herself how to use the flame of a torch to melt and manipulate the glass rods by studying books and videos. This allowed her to be able to create her own personalized beads for her jewelry pieces.
Fast forward to 2023, where bag making came into play. Sewing was always a love for Liza Lina. From when she was a young girl sitting beside her mother who was a seamstress, she had fallen in love with textiles and creating hand sewn works. A friend encouraged her to try making bags, so she took on the challenge. Starting from scratch with a pattern and premium fabrics sourced from local shops, she creates each bag by hand using her sewing machine.
